The Leg Lamp is a plot device in the 1983 comedy "A Christmas Story", in which the protagonist's father who came to possess the item had briefly erratic and paranoid behavior toward his wife after his beloved Leg Lamp was broken. He buried its pieces in the family's backyard, the oldest son Ralphie noting he could've sworn he heard Taps being played softly.
