Julia Child was an American chef, author, and television personality who is remembered for bringing French cuisine to the America public. She wrote Mastering the Art of French Cooking and was the star of a 1960's television program known as The French Chef. Her groundbreaking cookbooks adapted complex French cooking for everyday Americans. Particularly for her generation, she was an extremely tall lady at six foot two, which helps to explain the dimensions of the dummy on which the apron sits.
