This golden clasp was once owned by the Greek physician Hippocrates, who is regarded today as the father of modern medicine.


Owned by Hippocrates of Cos who was an ancient Greek physician of Classical Greece and is considered one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine. It is a Gold clasp for a cape or cloak.

Hippocrates was plagued with moles all his life, until his favorite pupil, with whom he was having an affair, gave him the fibula as an anniversary gift. Ironically, after it took away all of Hippocrates' moles the young man lost interest.
