The Pyramid is both a location and artifact[1] within Warehouse 13. It is, or is the site of, the Ancient Archives[2] and/or the Anubis Shrine.[1]

Appearance[]

Both the Ancient Archives and the Anubis Shrine are, or are located within, a large Egyptian pyramid within the Warehouse.

Ancient Archives[]

The entrance to the Ancient Archives is a barred gate door, above which is a single light bulb, between two heavily cracked walls.

What is shown of the Archives is a room packed full of ancient objects, some on shelves and some not, and documents of Egyptian, Greco-Roman, and other such origins.

Anubis Shrine[]

The Anubis Shrine provided seismic force to power the original Warehouse 13 by harnessing the vibrations of green moldavite crystals. In order to function properly, the crystals must be carefully balanced; if not, it will cause massive earthquakes.

If unbalanced, the crystals will change colors to red until all are balanced.

A dog is needed for entering the shrine, as a bark makes the statues of Anubis retract their spears and the door to open.

History[]

Ancient Archives[]

After becoming aware of several deaths caused by Warehouse 2's reactivation, the Warehouse discovers a picture of its entrance. Arthur Nielsen and Claudia Donovan compare the hieroglyphs in the picture with those of a scroll within the Ancient Archives and confirm that Warehouse 2 had been discovered and activated.[3]

After rescuing Pete Lattimer and Myka Bering from Warehouse 2 and discovering Helena G. Wells had stolen a spear from its inventory, Artie returned to the Archives to handle some spears in its inventory in hopes it would help him ascertain Helena's plan. Claudia visited him there to tell him she discovered the burial site of Helena's daughter Christina, and to discuss Vanessa Calder's assertion that she will one day become Warehouse 13's Caretaker, a destiny she feels ill-equipped to handle. Artie assures her that her future is not set in stone and that she will not be made to do anything without her complete consent.[4]

While introducing the newly-recruited Steve Jinks to the Warehouse, the agents witness a large lightning storm over the Archives. Steve stares in disbelief at the pyramid's presence within the Warehouse, and Pete makes a joke at which he does not laugh. Artie initially plans to take Pete with him to investigate the storm, but instead sends him with Steve to investigate a ping. Going to the Archives alone, he discovers that the Statue of Zeus contained within is responsible for the storm, and has been destroying the room with discharges of lightning. It is then discovered that the recent retrieval of the Statue of Hera from Warehouse 2 has caused both to become active. To pacify both artifacts, Artie and Claudia move the Statue of Zeus to the Univille Conservatory under the guise of a normal art piece.[5]

After the agents discovers that Tyler Struhl's nanites are transmitting from within the Warehouse, Myka checks the Archives and does not find the source of the transmission.

Trivia[]

  • It is unclear if the Ancient Archives contains objects that are not artifacts. While some objects are tagged and on shelves, indicating they are artifacts, others are strewn throughout the room with no tags. Further, Artie handles a spear without neutralizer gloves, something he otherwise always does, suggesting that either the spear was not an artifact, or it was a plot oversight.[7]
  • After the Statue of Zeus was moved from the Ancient Archives to Univille in "The New Guy", it was mistakenly seen within it again in "Emily Lake".[8]
  • "Grand Designs" introduces the Anubis Shrine, which it identifies as the pyramid within the Warehouse. However, it had previously been identified as the site of the Ancient Archives, and only one Egyptian pyramid has ever been seen in the Warehouse. It is thus possible that both the Anubis Shrine and the Ancient Archives are merely different rooms within the same pyramid.
  • Moldavite is a typically green vitreous silica projectile rock formed by a meteorite impact in southern Germany. It is a form of tektite, which itself is a natural glass formed from meteoric impacts.
  • Libyan desert glass is a green natural glass theorized to originate from meteor impacts found in the eastern Sahara and the deserts of eastern Libya and western Egypt.
    • It was knapped and used to make tools during the Pleistocene (Ice Age), and was used in some Egyptian jewelry (an example being the pectoral of Tutankhamen, which features a scarab carved from Libyan desert glass).
