A walking stick with a brass elephant figurine on its handle; it was the favorite possession of the eccentric Brigadier General Laverlong of Filey, Yorkshire. It's made of different elements that the general collected throughout his travels around the world. It can cause an earthquake when the ground is struck with it.
The artifact is somehow linked to the largest earthquake England had ever felt.
It was discovered after people reported feeling earthquakes, even though nobody else felt them, after the walking stick was stolen from the British History Museum in Lakefield, Illinois. A thief was using the artifact to create localized earthquakes as a way to distract people as he robbed them.
This particular artifact comes back in the book based on this series by Greg Cox. Pete gets touched by one of Clara Bartons gloves. Unfortunately it was the one that made people ill and while near death Pete uses the cane in order to assist Myka in confronting the person responsible for killing a lot of people.
In Cangku Shisi, the alternate Benedict Valda killed Mr. Keeler and stole the handle for the Setting Maul, part of Hiram Abiff's Tools, from the Regent Vault. Before leaving the vault, Valda set a trap for Artie and the others in order to slow them down; as soon as they entered the Vault, they activated Sir William Parry's Inukshu which froze Artie solid. Pete and Myka couldn't neutralize the Inunkshuk because when it was activated it also encased itself in ice so Steve went to the Warehouse and got the walking stick to shatter the ice it was encased in so Pete and Myka could neutralize the inukshuk.
