Albert Butz (1849-1905) was a Swiss born inventor and businessman. He patented the Thermostat in 1889, and his other patents involve temperature as well. His other inventions include automatic temperature control, thermostatic valve, and others. In 1992, Butz was inducted into the Minnesota Inventors Hall of Fame.
