The Shelby Electric Company was the manufacturer of the famous Centennial Light, a light bulb produced in the late 1890s that was donated to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department in Livermore, California in 1901. It has burned almost continuously to this day.
Notations on the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department historical section based upon the lightbulb state that it is the construction style and quality which gives the Shelby bulbs their longevity, not as an anomaly.
